Pittsburgh, 3 balls, 4 balls, 5 balls, 6 balls, 7 balls, 120 minutes

5 ball 5 up 360 with qualifies on both ends (https://youtu.be/8SbwpqObF5s)
6 ball fountain qualify -> 8844 for 1 round -> 6 ball fountain qualify (https://youtu.be/_OhHqJy8mB8)

These are two things I've only ever done once before, in like 2007 or 2008. So I've mostly gotten all my skill back. The biggest thing I'm lacking right now is being able to run 6 and 7 longer, and anything with 8 and 9. I would need smaller juggling bags to pursue those though. I'll keep trying with these ones, maybe my arms will get a bit stronger.

21 catches clean of 7 with these 2.75 inchers. Many qualifies. Maybe it's doable with these and I just need more practice. The pattern on this 21 catch run was awesome, but on a lot of the qualifies there are at least a couple bad throws.

7 ball (8x,6) flashes (well, 8 catches) a few times. Don't have the ability to do more with this yet.

Also got 20 catches clean of 6 ball halfshower with weak(right) hand making the high throw, and 18 clean with left. No idea why but my halfshower has always been stronger on the weak side. My high throws are definitely more accurate on the left(dominant) side so it must be for another reason.

38 throws and 34 catches of 6 ball sync fountain. Need to focus on the scooping motion more and I think this is a beautiful trick that too many jugglers including myself neglect. Should really put as much effort into it as async fountain. It is hard to get 20 catches clean consistently and this 38 throw run was a bit of an outlier. I think my best ever is only about 50 so this is kind of the main 6+ object pattern I should work on if I want 6+ ball PB.

6 ball async fountain 42 catches clean

5 ball siteswaps felt alright. Not amazing but 20 rounds of the easier ones 744 663 645. Still so bad at 753 for some reason, I dunno how I got 100+ catches in the past. I haven't done more than like 5 rounds of it in a run this year.

Warm up

First indoor juggling session after the summer, and many of us had been on vacation so we spent more time than usual chatting instead of juggling.

5 balls, 6 balls, 100 minutes

Two new personal bests: 11 high throws of (8x,4)(4,4)* out of and into qualifies of 6x,4*
(6x,4)* for 284 catches.

Old PBs of mine were 10 high throws and ~200 catches, respectively. From about 12 years ago lol :( So much lost time I should've been practicing...

6 ball half shower 20 catches clean on both sides
6 ball sync fountain for 20 catches

I can push these more but would like to keep them short and clean for now. I think my practice is kinda bad sometimes, I just keep dropping and trying over and over. Maybe it's normal, haven't practiced with anyone in soooo long :(

7 ball (8x,6)* for 8 catches clean a few times. I could qualify this every once in a while a decade ago.
7 ball cascade 19 catches clean. It's more solid with the newer balls but harder to keep going, if that makes sense.

Total practice time: 100 minutes

Location: Next to my house

Flash. Took me 4 minutes to get it 10 times.

6 catches. It only took me about 2 minutes to get it 10 times. (Focusing on making the lefthanded throws as high as the righthanded throws helped.)

10 catches. Got it (once) after about 2 minutes.

Decided to go for 12 catches. Didn't get it.

8 catches (didn't want to end the practice with a drop), got it after about 10 attempts, but it wasn't beautiful.

5 balls, 25 minutes

Haven't juggled balls much lately...

Flash. Took me 6 minutes to get it 10 times.

6 catches. Took me 9 minutes to get it 10 times.

Trying to do 10 catches. Failing.

Meh. Oh well... I guess it was about time to start working on this again.

My left arm doesn't like this. I probably shouldn't do 5b without warm up, but that means I can only practice 5 balls when I have time for warm up, too... It might not have to be a long warm up, though.

Dirt Cheap Props in Italy, 1441 minutes

Dirt Cheap Props in Italy, or how I learned to stop worrying and LOVE Plungers:

So I've been in Italy since the beginning of July (it's probably not permanent) and it wasn't long before I felt the need to juggle... But props are expensive, then accidentally after trying to fix a problem at the flat with the local hardware store's plungers... I realised I had struck cheapskate juggling gold. Hallelujah! Plungers are f**king amazing!

The Target:

So naturally when a passing set of six plungers costs less than one (admittedly high quality) juggling club, and you think you will have the weather time and suitably skilled friends to juggle with... Anyway weather, time and fellow jugglers did not fully materailise... But well... That's a challenge right? Also someone accidentally suggested that I could juggle 5 of them, before I had tested that I could...

So Low Target / Goal, have fun, and 4 was in some ways easier than with my old Play Primas...

Which makes 5 seem a very tempting goal, how about in the time I've got in Italy break my own old 5 club record with clubs, with plungers and get it on Video? Quickly added goals:

1. Do this with Circus, or Hybrid grip, like I'd always suspected was a good idea before, but was too, erm lazy, to properly retrain.
2. Make it repeatable, so that it's not just a one off, but a standard repeatable goal.
3. Try to break the tricks down to simpler exercises, so that those exercises can be understood inside out
4. Integrate my best understanding of Pyramid Practice Techniques and add in my best ideas of how to mix in what helps me... ( I learned my eyesight and lack of previous awareness of what exercises are suitable to form higher level skills, doesn't suit pyramid practice alone... My original Research into the practical differences that differentiate Circus / Hybrid grip, from European, and the practical values of the angles / 'parallelness' of the throws and the tricks to spot easy ways to get the launch to those things have been greatly assisted by juggling... Plungers.)

Maybe no one will read this... Maybe too many will.

Many thanks and much love to the juggling community as a whole. Thank you for getting me this far into what I (senselessly) enjoy :)

9 balls flashing, 5 ball tricks, 145 minutes

5b all up 180° (single turns back to casc) - 10 min. ___ Should mention, that I always briefly warm up on higher 'n higher and on pulsing high\\low a bit. ___ Today, got upto the turn + 5 casc throws, all caught ( which is what I kind of do 'until' as a minimum goal, or even get as many of as can, while actually I currently really want back to stable cascade plus another attempt on a 2nd turn per run ).
9 balls flashing - ~135 min. ___ xxi 8 g(athers). xii 11 t(hrows) ( one of which into 8 g ), iv 13 t.

5prop mix, 65 minutes

65' - 5propmix 3b2c (tinyclubs, doubles) - rounds max [7 or above]: .. started with focus on clubs only, especially right double spin, .. 8, 7, .. here noticed too many too wide runs, so put main focus on more scoop \ throwing more from the middle, .. 7 cl, 8. ___ Overall not too tensed today, but for keeping 'em up after 4-5 rounds, but not below, with rather relaxed into early collects ( on bad days, or early within stints, I usually have to 'fight' a bit, in order to even get a viable pattern started ).

Total practice time: 210 minutes
