Uppsala Neo-circus Convention 2012
A training camp and convention for acrobatics, juggling and other circus disciplines
Uppsala's neo-circus organisation ‘Tusen Konster och en Boll’ will soon hold its annual circus convention, from the 30th of November until the 2nd of December. This year, our focus will be on providing a busy training schedule, with workshops held by professional instructors.
WORKSHOPS
We have now booked the Russian handstand and hand-to-hand trainer Alexander Gavrilov, who is currently employed by the Circus University in Stockholm
We are also in the progress of booking skilled instructors in other disciplines.
Our intention is to offer workshops in the major disciplines of partner-acrobatics, juggling and aerials (silks and rope). Workshops in these main disciplines will run parallel to one another.
OPENING SHOW
Previous years our resources have been directed towards hiring artists for Friday evening’s Opening Show. This year workshops, intended to help us improve our own skills, will instead be in focus. But the show is most certainly still a part of the program! Its aim will be to offer an insight into what the convention has to offer and to provide inspiration before training begins the following morning. Anyone interested in performing is most welcome to contact us!

PRICE
300 SEK pre-registration (OR 400 SEK door price)
This will include: Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, lunch on Saturday, a hall for sleeping (Friday and Saturday evening), the Opening Show (including Swedish ‘glögg’ and gingerbread during the break), training hall, and high quality workshops and activities. A kitchen will also be available for participants who wish to prepare their own food.
INTERNATIONAL REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
International participants can register by emailing tusenkonster@gmail.com with your name and your main circus disipline (e.g. Partner acrobatics, juggling, aerials etc.). Those who email us can then pay 300 SEK in cash on arrival. For those who do not pre-register the convention costs 400 SEK.
SWEDISH REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Register by making a bank transfer of 300 SEK. Write your name (or as much of it as you can fit in) in the message section of the transfer. Use the following bank details:

GETTING TO UPPSALA
The convention is about a 10/15 min walk from Uppsala Central Station.
Car:
Uppsala is about a 50 min drive north of Stockholm.
Parking is available at the convention (free of charge).
Train/bus:
Uppsala is a 50 minute train/bus ride north of Stockholm (from Stockholm Central Station). The convention is then a 10/15 min walk from Uppsala Central Station.
By plane:
Arlanda (Stockholm) Airport is most convenient. From the airport it is only a 20min train ride to Uppsala Central Station. The convention is then a 10/15 min walk from Uppsala Central Station.
Skavsta (Stockholm) Airport. This is the airport used by Ryan Air and Wizz Air. On arrival at the airport you will then need to take the airport ‘Flygbuserna’ to Stockholm Central Staion (approx. 1.5 hrs) and then the train/bus to Uppsala Central Station. The convention is then a 10/15 min walk from Uppsala Central Station.

SVENSKA
Ett träningsläger och konvent för akrobatik, jonglering och andra cirkusdicipliner
Den 30 november till och med den 2 december håller Uppsalas nycirkusförening, Tusen konster och en boll, sitt årliga Adventskonvent. I år har upplägget omtänkts, med ett större fokus på ett välstrukturerad träningsschema uppbyggd av workshops från professionella tränare.
WORKSHOPS
Vi har nu bokat den ryska hand-hand och handstående tränaren Gavrilov Alexander som för närvarande jobbar på Cirkurshögskolan i Stockholm.
Vi jobbar även på att boka riktigt duktiga workshopledare inom andra områden. Vi uppmanar alla att komma med önskningar på dicipliner eller helst specifika tränare. Vi kommer att överväga alla förslag!
Just nu är våran tanke att fylla schemat med workshops inom huvudområderna parakro, golvakro(tumbling, handstående etc), jonglering och luftakro. Workshops inom dessa huvudområden kommer att hållas parallelt.
INVIGNINGSHOW
Istället för att lägga pengar på artister till konventets invigningsshow kommer resurserna att satsas på tränare som kan hjälpa oss att utveckla våra egna färdigheter. Invigningsshowen kommer att finnas kvar, men ses mer som ett sätt att introducera konventets olika disipliner, att inspirera deltagare inför morgondagens workshops och ge alla möjlighet att visa upp sina rutiner.
